About The Show – Bloody Good Time

Feature-Bloody Good Time

Get ready for a ride of hilarity with Cat and Caz as they bring their brand of physical sketch show comedy “Bloody Good Time”, to the stage. Incorporating a whirlwind of characters, the show includes a delightful dose of the bizarre and absurd. Buckle up for laughs, shocks, and a fresh perspective on baked beans!

About Bloody Good Time

What is this Production about?

A bonkers, goofy physical sketch show with too many props, too many costumes, too many fake accents and too many dance numbers.

What character are you playing, and what can you share with us about them?

Cat and Caz are playing over 20 characters in this show, from the duo; a Femme Fatale Canine tooth and Toothbrush Detective Brosse Dente the detective, socially inept wannabe actor Sally Carrot, existential babies and their mothers, hapless renters and shifty landlords, and some larrikin tradies Larry and Louie.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

Someone who loves the bizarre, the absurd, and the over the top. Those who laugh at a parody, and love a cheeky dance number, or 5! The songs and pop culture references will definitely resonate with millennial women.

What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?

They’ll probably wonder what the hell we were on when we came up with the show! Hopefully, they will be a bit shocked and can’t think about the show without being weirded out and laughing. It will make them think of baked beans very differently.

What’s going to surprise people about this show?

Just how many bad accents and dance numbers can we fit into one 50-minute show!

Who has the best costume?

Cat, as Cavatina Canine. She is a femme fatale with a white-blonde bob, a sparkly beret, a black-and-white outfit, and, most importantly, she is a tooth.

About The Show – Consent

Feature-Consent

Today, we sit down with Samantha Lambert, one of the stars of the upcoming, much-anticipated legal drama Consent, a courtroom and relationship drama replete with fierce wit and an intense exploration of justice and humanity.

About Consent

What is this Production about?

When two emotionally desensitised friends take opposing briefs on a sexual assault case, can justice be served?
Ultimately, Consent is a fierce and witty courtroom/relationship drama, about a group of lawyers and their private lives, and how their jobs impact their humanity.

Full synopsis:
Why is Justice blind? Is she impartial? Or is she blinkered?

Friends Ed and Tim take opposing briefs in a rape case. The key witness is a woman whose life seems a world away from theirs. At home, their own lives begin to unravel as every version of the truth is challenged.
A powerful, painful, funny play that sifts the evidence from every side and puts Justice herself in the dock.

★★★★★ “Jammed with ideas, rich with humanity… A modern classic.” – The Times
★★★★★ “One of Nina Raine’s most enjoyable and intelligent plays. Unreservedly recommended.” – The Independent
“A tense, entertaining modern-day tragi-comedy.” – Telegraph
“Modern classics don’t come along very often. Consent is, without a shadow of a doubt, just that: an intricately constructed philosophical drama that does for love, law and language what Michael Frayn’s Copenhagen did for particle physics and Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia did with time.” – Variety

Mature Audiences (16+ Event). Content Warning: Discussions and depictions of sexual violence, coarse language, smoke haze, and themes of suicide.

What character are you playing, and what can you share with us about them?

I’m playing Kitty, the wife of a charming, professionally callous barrister, Edward, who is cross-examining a key witness in a sexual assault case. Kitty and Ed’s friends are also barristers, making Kitty the only non-barrister in the room. She is incredibly empathetic and intelligent, but indulges her emotionally detached friends and their blunt, somewhat inhumane opinions.

What’s challenging about bringing this script to life?

I think there’s an incredibly challenging balance between the quick-paced, charming but fiery wordplay and the emotionally impactful drama of the script.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

Anyone who enjoys black comedy, legalistic witty wordplay, and courtroom/relationship dramas.

What’s going to surprise people about this show?

I think being such an impactful drama, the meaty chunks of vibrant comedy throughout the piece, are not only an audience reprieve, but as insight into these seemingly amoral, charming humans.

The Edit

Buckle up for a wild ride into the zany underbelly of reality TV with Gabrielle Scawthorn’s latest show, The Edit at Belvoir 25a. This show promises a rollercoaster of laughs, thrills, and yes, even some binge-eating chicken wings!

About The Edit by Gabrielle Scawthorn at Belvoir 25a

What is this Production about?

The production is about the wild world of reality Television. The truly absurd and terrifying contestants and producers and all the mental things they do to try to make us binge watch.

What character are you playing, and what can you share with us about them?

I play a character called Jess. She’s working on a reality TV show called “Match or Snatch”. Just like the Bachelor or Love Island, this show uses a team of experts to pair up contestants with their perfect match, but the catch is, contestants have to figure out who their perfect match in the Mansion is. The incredible Iolanthe plays Nia, a beautiful young contestant on the show.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

Well, firstly, I fell in love with the script. I laughed and cried reading it and had so many questions. And then the team who are making this show are amazing, it’s a group of people who I’ve had theatre crushes on for years, so I’m thrilled to finally be working with them.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

If you love reality television, you will love this show.
If you hate reality television, you will love this show.
If you love celebrities or love to hate them, you’ll love this show.
If you like funny, fast, thrilling theatre, you will love this show.
If you love to see two women binge eat chicken wings, you will love this show.

What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?

Gabrielle Scawthorn’s script brings in her own experience with being on reality TV at seventeen (crazy) AND she’s also done so much research as part of her lauded podcast “Back from Reality” where she interviewed former reality television contestants about their experiences on reality TV and being in the limelight and also what it’s like to come out of these shows and back to your life. So she’s crafted something with all the insider gossip! All the shit you never hear about, behind the NDAs, behind the cameras. The underbelly of reality TV.

Who has the best costume?

Definitely, Iolanthe’s character “Nia”, she’s so stylish and her fits are sexy and ****y. Jess is basic in comparison.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

This is the last 25a show at Downstairs Belvoir for some time! After years of housing some of the best independent theatre shows, 25A is making space for Griffin Theatre in 2026. It’s an end of an era! Dom Mercer has programmed the best new theatre makers in this country, and the shows are totally unlike anything you see anywhere else, and they ALWAYS SELL OUT! So don’t sleep on tickets. $25 is THE cheapest theatre ticket in Sydney. CRIMINAL… or is it?
