Are we taking enough risks? What’s an acceptable number of risks to take? Can we get a prescription for some stronger risks from our doctor? Sweeney Preston’s world was flipped on its head six weeks into living in Las Vegas. While Sin City is famously a hotspot for headflipping, just ask Cirque Du Soleil, this was different. While eating a lukewarm slice of pizza on The Strip, he received a life-changing text from home. At that exact moment, a monster truck converted into a giant shopping trolley (see Cartzilla pictured below), blaring Ginuwine’s Pony and carrying seven drunk tourists, sped past.
How are these events related? He’ll explain in his highly anticipated follow-up to his acclaimed debut show, Australia’s Worst Journalist. One of Australia’s most exciting young comedians and storytellers (writer for Spicks and Specks, The Last Leg UK) Sweeney says “What happens in Vegas, definitely doesn’t stay in Vegas. It tours to Fringe festivals where the food is better, the healthcare is cheaper and the audiences are slightly less drunk.” Touring through Australia, hitting Perth and Adelaide first, Sweeney Preston brings his brand new show Petal to the Metal to the Fringe Festivals in 2027.
